Omnichannel retailing. What is it you may ask? This can be defined as creating a seamless cross-channel buying experience that integrates in-store, online, and mobile shopping. An example of this would be purchasing something online for in-store pickup. 73% of customers who use multiple channels to research products Curbside pick-up and in-store pickup exploded during the pandemic, with Target citing a 500% growth in curbside pick-up in 2020. Market researchers have deemed this an essential component for the successful development of a company. This is because of the rise of demand for convenience, and the reliance of online purchasing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The rise of services like 2-day Amazon Prime shipping has made fast shipping not only a perk but an expectation. Companies need to adapt to the requirement of having efficient supply chain and integrations of online and in-store platforms. Starbucks, the leading coffee chain in the US has integrated an application with a points system that allows for quick ordering and in-store pickup. Omnichannel shoppers have a 30% higher lifetime value than those who shop using only one channel, so having this as an option will allow for future success and recurring purchases from customers. We also hope to see the growth of innovative and new technologies in order to improve omnichannel integration.
Enroute aims to optimize this method by creating an integrated and super efficient method of purchasing your favorite items entitled Click and Collect. Essentially, while commuting to work on a day-to-day basis, you are sitting with not much to do. So, if it were possible to say pick up a coffee at the local shop next to your work building upon arrival so its ready to go, and with this purchase get money off your ride on the train or bus, wouldn’t this just sound too good to be true? Well, it is here sooner than you may think. We are in the process of developing this with some major retailers. We hope this can be a new normal for people around the world and that convenience can brought to people’s fingertips through mobile purchase and in-store pickup. However, the additional ability of saving allows for even more incentive to shop and get these benefits.
Overall, there is an exciting and new growth of retailing. We love learning and growing from the world around us, and coming up with new ways to be ahead of the curve.
